HOW WE'LL DO IT

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Since November 2003, from our studio in Toronto, a team of producers, researchers, and support staff have worked to compile information pertaining to all areas of the expedition such as: location information, cultural profiles, indigenous issues, government and local contacts, logistics, advisors, funding resources, non-government support organisations, environmental conditions, media and publishing contacts, expedition sailboats, films, books and other reference materials.

THE EXPEDITION
When funds are secured the Endangered Islands Expedition will move location research from the studio into the field. A crew of 6 expedition team members will sail aboard a 74 ft vessel to each location, remaining in one region for an extended period of time to create an intimate and accurate portrait of each place.

Consulting with islanders, logistical planning and documenting the islands through video and photography are all aspects of the expedition, culminating in the production of the 13 part HDTV series depicting people and environments throughout Melanesia, Polynesia, Micronesia and the Indian Ocean. Each feature length (2 hour long) episode will represent the daily life of islanders through a collection of individual stories, revealing their world through cultural experience, customary practice and social perspective.
